The well documented resurrection of Jesus Christ gives us confidence in God’s power to do what He says He will. His love and power enable us to minister to the lost poor, hungry, and homeless and enable them to receive new life, IF they make the choice to believe the truth, turn away from attempting to control their own lives and surrender their will to His. We love to hear from former residents, letting us know they are still reading their Bible daily or that they are still being blessed by the time spent at GODTEL and the lessons they learned during their stay. The blessing is increased when former residents help support GODTEL financially. Last year we received more than $7,000 from those we assisted in the past. We recently received a copy of a page from a book written by a former resident. She had died and the people helping clear out her apartment took the time to send this to us: “More About the Author: … I moved to Nacogdoches, TX in 1985. Before I trusted in Jesus Christ and gave my life to Him in 1989, I lived a life filled with unhappiness and loneliness. My life was sinking to the point of homelessness and despair unsure of where I would lay my head or when I would have another meal to eat. I experienced breaking the law, attempting suicide, and battling with cancer. This lifestyle led me to an organization called GODTEL where I was not only provided with shelter and food, but I learned who God is and of my need for Him. I became involved in a church and eventually surrendered to Jesus Christ… Without Jesus as my Savior and guide, I can do nothing.” We are also often saddened to learn of our former residents’ return to an ungodly lifestyle. Just last week we learned of the death of a former resident who used some drugs which had been cut with Fentanyl. We know she heard the Gospel message and saw Christianity demonstrated in the lives of our staff, but somehow did not come to the place where she trusted Jesus to get her through life’s trials. I am not her judge but the fruit of her life does not look very good to me. Thanks From Last month we received a donation from a couple in Bernards, MA. With it they sent a note which said, “This donation is in honor of your good work and to those in your care. I just heard of your caring support from a friend whose mother resides in Nacogdoches. She was not staying there (at GODTEL) but a thoughtful person had called my friend to make sure her mother was alright in the recent freeze. Thank you.” Thanks To We continue to be blessed by guests cooks at all three GODTEL locations. Due to COVID concerns, some bring the food and leave it near the door rather than coming into the buildings and serving the meals. We greatly appreciate the fact that they continue to provide the special meals and look forward to the day they will feel (and, indeed, be) safe to return to pre-pandemic services. Grace Bible Church in Nacogdoches recently held a food drive for GODTEL. The photo below shows the welcomed results. In Livingston several churches and individuals regularly prepare and serve special meals for us, much to the delight of all present.
Whether you support GODTEL by prayer, with volunteering, with financial support, or donations of household items and clothing, I hope you know we appreciate all you do. We pray God will bless you in ways you might not even think about, as well as those He brings to your attention. Wedding Bells for Jonathan Many of you may remember one of our former residents, Jonathan Moore who met Jesus Christ personally while staying at GODTEL a few years back. To some, he was also known as “Taser” (an inside joke, which I will let you in on if you really want to know). As of March 27, 2021 he will be a married man. Please pray for him and his bride — that God will guide and use them for His kingdom. Mexico Bound Chairs An Hispanic gentleman visited our Christian Help Center in Nacogdoches one day and saw some chairs we were saving for when we can build another building for our CHC and turn the current space it occupies into our chapel. He explained that he was involved with a mission church in a Mexican border town and they were in need of about 60 chairs. I questioned his belief about who Jesus was, to be sure he knew and taught that Jesus is not only the son of God, but God Himself, as John 1:1-3, & 14 clearly declares. As his beliefs were sound, they had an immediate need, and since we do not know how long it will be before we are able to build the new structure for the CHC, we gave him the chairs. As he joyfully left with them the next day, I prayed that each time a person sat in one of those chairs, they would hear the truth and be blessed. Caesar Has Been Rendered Unto Each year I do the taxes for GODTEL’s employees as part of their benefit for working with us. I am very glad to report that I have completed the task for 2020 taxes. This year I completed a total of eleven Form-1040’s. I am very thankful for the tax software which leads me through the topics and does the calculations. For Your Information Bro. June’s sermons and music are available for viewing and listening to on YouTube. His music CDs and helpful Christian literature, including the series on Faith by Manley Beasley are also available directly from GODTEL (Contact information is at the bottom of this page). Call, email, or write us. ~Nancy Gentry Comments are closed.
