For more than 35 years Bro. June has studied the scientific evidences in the earth and sky that support Intelligent Design—Creation by an all-powerful being. He has written two books on the subject which have been combined into one volume, the title of which is “Creation vs. Evolution”. (The series of tract inserts we have been sending with our monthly newsletters are each from a chapter in this book.) Bro. June has also completed a commentary on the first eleven chapters of Genesis dealing with this same topic. (That book, entitled “Pre-history to Abram as Reported to Man” is in the process of being edited.) Until recently, we have been making in-house copies and binding these books ourselves but “Creation vs. Evolution” is now available as an e-book for a Kindle or Kindle App and in paperback by Brooks Kennedy of PS Tech Group. Mr. Kennedy is also hosting GODTEL’s web site and has made some upgrades, including the ability to access Bro. June’s weekly sermons on YouTube and hear a song from one of Bro. June’s latest Gospel music CDs. (Now, if I can just find the time to bring all the web site information up-to-date…) I cannot think about the web site without feeling a huge amount of gratitude to Paul Baker of juxtapose inc. in Nederland. He has been hosting GODTEL’s web site ever since we (he) developed one for us many, many years ago. Paul is the son of Martin and Mary Baker, the mission directors of GODTEL’s Lufkin facility. He is a dedicated Christian, a devoted father, and a very busy civic-minded individual. Here is what is written about him on the juxtapose web site: Paul Baker, President and CEO, was born in Nacogdoches, Texas and has lived all over Texas until he went to Lamar University – Beaumont in 1994. Paul graduated from Lamar University in 1999 with a BBA in Management Information Systems and a BS in Computer Science. Having been in the computer support industry since 1996, Paul was the driving force behind the creation of Juxtapose. Working part time for Juxtapose starting in February of 2002 and full time in February of 2003, Paul has dramatically increased the quality and quantity of services offered. With Paul’s area of expertise, Juxtapose has expanded its services to include Accounting Information Systems Support with a specialty in QuickBooks and MAS 90/200. Paul served on the Board of Directors for the Nederland Economic Development Corporation for five years, is a co-founder of the Spindletop Alumni Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi and has served as the advisor for the Kappa Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi – Professional Business Fraternity at Lamar University. Paul is also active in the Mid and South Jefferson County Relay For Life, The Rotary Club of Nederland where he currently serves as the Treasurer and has serviced as Director of Community Service, the YMBL where he is a Life Member, and a member of the LSET (Leadership SouthEast Texas) class of 2005. In June 2004, Paul was selected as the Rotary Club of Nederland’s Entrepreneur of the Year. Paul is also the proud father of two children Kristen and Blaine Baker. Thank you, Paul for your many years of service to GODTEL and to the Lord’s work. May God’s grace and peace be multiplied to you. Chores for Every Resident Even our youngest guests are required to do chores at GODTEL. This young lady was on yard-trash patrol and did a great job. Thank you, Zephania. GODTEL Benefit Yard Sale These photos are of Les and Tiffany Hillesheim setting up for a recent yard sale to benefit GODTEL. Les and Tiffany are former residents of our Livingston mission and continue to attend Sunday morning services at our Mission On The Hill chapel. Their hard work generated over $250 for the mission. We do appreciate this couple’s willingness to help us help others as they were helped in the past. New Guest Cooks
We welcome Pastor Finley, our Friday night Bible study teacher, and Calvary Baptist Church of Woodville as monthly guest cooks at the Livingston mission. |
