June Newsletter - Nacogdoches/Livingston

Read (and Follow) the Instructions!
(It’s simple, once you know how.)
Due to all the rain this winter, I was in need of an additional umbrella so I bought one that was very compact and pops open with the push of a button. The first time I used it, however, I could not get it to close — until I read the instructions, “Push the button to open and close.”

And then there was the case of my new clip-on sunglasses. The first time I used them, I had great difficulty clipping them on, and off, my glasses. I took them back to Nacogdoches Eye Associates, where I had purchased them and explained that they were too difficult for me to use. The person assisting me took them and easily slipped them onto and back off my glasses. When I asked how he did that, he showed me that they have a spring in their center and all I needed to do was pull outward to attach and remove them. He was right, and though I felt rather dumb, I was relieved to be able to operate them easily.

Life can be a real struggle but when we are properly instructed, solutions may not be easy but they can be quite simple. God has given us clear and abundant instructions for salvation, and for living, in the B.I.B.L.E., or, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. The Bible has all the information we need to succeed at life here on earth and to escape hell and enjoy Heaven forever and forever... but we need to read and follow His directions.

A Reader Comments

Hi Everyone:

Thank you all for all your work at all 3 GODTELs. This week we received both newsletters (NAC/LIV & LUF) containing the article "God is Not Listening". I thought, Wow, I gotta read this. Well, I read it, and reread it and reread it again.  I have to say in my most prayerful thoughts, I never would have believed this to be true, as I pray for our country, and Christians all over the world, and the unbelievers, that they would come to know Christ.  And I pray with positive thoughts and with faith, knowing almighty God, our creator, is in complete control, no matter what Satan does or how much he influences us. Yet, as I read this article, I had to ask myself these questions:
  1. How in the world will we be able to convince generations of people who have been taught since elementary school that it's OK to have sex with anyone, anytime?
  2. How will we ever be able to convince generations, yes, generations of people who believe that it is OK to have sex with a person of his or her own gender when it is completely unnatural? At this point, there is no way to convince millions and millions of women that abortion is not OK, and that it is murdering an unborn baby, when they are certain that it is their "choice".  And that said, figure this one out. If the father of the unborn child chooses to cause the abortion, or if a drunk driver has caused an accident to cause a miscarriage, then it's considered murder.  But it's OK for the mother to deliberately abort the baby.  What kind of judgement is that, anyway?
  3. Why do so many unmarried young couples, [and old ones, too] believe it's OK to live together as husband and wife, while adding children to their household? I know the answer to that one. Because the U.S. Government gives money [yours and mine] to the single mothers. And if they get married, the money stops, so why should they get married? Then we have all these people, Americans, who believe it's OK to open our borders and let illegal immigrants bombard our land, sponge off us, and even bring in their false religions, and expect us to willingly accept this.

You're right, Bro June. How can a Holy God possibly bless our nation unless we, as a nation, repent of these unrighteous acts that we have committed. We have a lot more to do than we are capable of. Our God is a God of miracles but we have to be willing to be used of Him. This breaks our hearts to realize our nation will go down in her sins like so many other nations. Imagine how God's heart is breaking...

We will keep trying to win sinners to Christ, and look for that glorious day when He calls us home.

Much Lo
ve,  J.T.

Ladies’ Bible Study

Each Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. I teach a Bible study to the ladies at the Livingston GODTEL. Our current study is on a devotional book by Kay and David Arthur entitled, “Lord, I Need Answers.”

I began the study by asking everyone who claimed to be a Christian to write out their testimony. I cannot say some of them looked at me with something akin to terror in their eyes but it was obvious that some could not imagine what a testimony was — so I explained. It is merely a statement of facts concerning your relationship with our Creator. How you came to know Him and what has been occurring in your life since then. When we are born, we are sinners bound for hell. Some people live their lives, never changing their eternal destination. Others realize the danger they are in, recognizing they need someone other than themselves to save them from eternal doom. How and when did you see your need for Jesus? Did you surrender your will to His and invite Him to take up residence in your life, willing to turn away from living for your own pleasures? Did your life and desires change after asking Jesus to save you? If you think you are going to Heaven, why do you believe this? If you do not have a relationship and a testimony, you may be deceiving yourself as James 1:22 warns us about.

Just a Reminder

Bro. June’s sermons and music are available for viewing on YouTube. His music CDs and helpful Christian literature are also available directly from GODTEL. Give us a call.
